The principle of operation of the MZW7-40.5-R

The principle of operation of the switch is based on the extinction of the electric arc that occurs when the contacts are opened in a vacuum, and the current through the vacuum chamber passes only in a short period of time when performing on and off operations. The high dielectric strength of the vacuum gap ensures reliable arc extinction. In the on position, the rated current and short circuit currents pass through the main contacts, in the off position, the main contacts open, with the formation of a visible gap.

Since switching processes occur inside the vacuum chambers, the circuit breaker does not forms emissions of products of burning the arc, both during shutdown and when turned on.

Due to the use of a longitudinal magnetic field to control the occurrence of an electric arc in a vacuum, the vacuum circuit breaker has excellent performance in terms of reliability and switching resource.
